About

A productivity junkie whose cryptonite is RSS feeds. I Subscribe to the Economist, Apple, Nespresso coffee, and Web Standards. I’m currently thinking a lot about typography, the grid, the work of Dieter Rams, IDEO, Will Eisener, and my bride to be (not in that order). When offline I can be found with a book, camera, or notebook (in that order).

I am
an Interface designer
We all have reasons for turning-up every day. For some it's money. For others it's out of habit. For me it’s because I want to create stuff that’s useful & awesome. People are going to use the interfaces I build, some for work and some for pleasure, and I want them to really enjoy that experience. I want the stuff that I make to affect these people in positive ways. It’s as simple and as hard as that.
I think
design is science + art
But don’t hold that against me, I also think Bob Dylan’s best song is on the Self Portrait album. The sum of these two parts form a process that moves minds from one place to another. It is, as Robin Mathew said, "where science and art break even", and possibly why it is the most exciting and interesting field to work in.
I want
Click. Scroll. Wonderful.
Some of the verbs we use might change but the motivation stays true: we love to discover. For me growing-up, pre-internet, most of that was done through Cinema, where I would line-up and wait while the screen came alive. But today it’s with a browser, and this time we get to interact with what we see, all starting with a click.

Easter egg!

You just HAD to press it:)
